Very cool graphics web sites
Check out Communications Arts Interactive Top 10 for some very cool web sites and interactive graphics work. I really like the Red Bull copilot and the Mr. Picassohead (and added them to my links section on the left). I haven't checked them all out yet but will as they are all very good.
For you motorcycle fans, the Red Bull Copilot "race" section may be a way to give your non-motorcycle riding friends a "taste" of our cool sport/activity.

Apple Store Kansas City - Update
The KC Apple Store opened today with the usual fanfare. The store was scheduled to open at 10:00am. At 8:00am there was probably about 50 people in line (including me). Before the store opened at 10:00, the line went around the block. My guess is there was less than 500 people there. At opening the store was packed. Lots of Apple employees in the store. Interestingly several store employees that I spoke to seemed to know very little about the apple products. By 12:30pm you could walk right up to the store and walk in.
The store openting was a good time for all the Apple fans.
The opening while well received was no Apple - Japan. Check out this video of the Apple Ginzu store opening

Apple Store Kansas City
The Kansas City Apple Store is opening tomorrow. I plan to be there (which surprises me a little).
Apple is the computer equvalent to Harley Davidson. Instead of just customers, Apple generates zealous devotees. The new store has generated a lot of hype. I have been to a couple of stores before. While sort of cool, there is really nothing particularly special about them. Nevertheless, I find myself drawn into the hype like other.
I will be there tomorrow morning. I hope you will be too!

CarTalk - Driving a SUV
Just read Car Talk's (love this show) online information on people who drive a SUV. As a SUV driver (actually two) this ticks me off.
I ride bicycles, motorcycles, and drive SUVs (GMC Yukon and Ford Explorer if you are curious). I use the mode of transportation that make most sense (preferring my bicycle or motorcycle for most trips). But living in Kansas City I deal with snow. Ever try to get your groceries in 6 inches of snow riding your bicycle? How about transporting your 3 year old by bicycle when it is 5 degrees out?
I regularly have to drive my little girl (the REAL love of my life) one hundred miles round trip when getting her from her mother. Obviuosly she is not allowed on my motorcycle. I feel much safer having her in the back of my Yukon XL.
BTW. How many of you consider the total cost of energy for your new Toyota Prius? Beside taking forever to get one they are manufactured in Japan. I wonder how much fuel it takes the ship to bring those cars from Japan to here. Not to mention tranporting the raw materials from somewhere else to Japan to make them.
I am not against foreign vehicles (my motorcycle is a Honda). But you can purchase vehicle manufactured here in the US. Like my Honda motorcycle. Which runs like a top by the way.
