New Years Backup
First, I hope that all readers have a wonderful year 2006 full of charm and health.
Well, I haven't blogged in a long while. This has been because I have been very busy professionally and personally and not to lack of material. But the new year reminded me of the importance of a full backup of your Mac (PC users have their own issues).
As all Mac users know we are blessed with superb reliability. This sometimes lulls us into being less than faithful in regular backups. While I wish everyone continued reliability, I note that the added peace of mind of a good backup is very appealing. Not to mention the reduction of stress and cost if you ever need a backup.
For professional reasons, I back up to both a spare Mac and an external hard disks. Most readers will back up to a HD only as it is hard to justify a complete backup Mac (unless for professional reasons).
I have and continue to successfully use the excellent Carbon Copy Cloner. This shareware program works great. While the instructions are a little cryptic, in use the program works well. There is also a great forum at the site if you need advanced directions.
If there is one thing you can do to start you year well, back up!
